2018 Winner - Devin Westley

Devin Westley not only won Young Achiever in 2018, he also went on to do the plant production industry proud with a second-placing in the 2018 Young Horticulturalist competition.

As the Retail and Site Consultant at Southern Woods, Devin already had a strong background in plant production. His win in Young Achiever demonstrated his skills and gave him an entry into the prestigious and challenging Young Horticulturalist competition.

There Devin achieved second overall, and also took home awards for best practice, practical activities, and best speech.

NZ Plant Producers chief executive Matthew Dolan described Devin as “a delightful young man”.

“Devin has a powerhouse of ideas and passion for the plant production industry and environmental stewardship. He is a true inspiration. This is what we need to take New Zealand plant producers to the next level of science and innovation”.

At 26 years old in 2018, Devin is still eligible to enter Young Achiever and have another crack at winning Young Horticulturalist. Watch this space!
